Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said yesterday that the country was passing through a critical period amid unexpected mismatch.
Speaking at a discussion marking the ninth death anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League’s presidium member Ataur Rahman Khan Kaiser in Chittagong, he also expressed hope that the current uneasy situation would change.
“Our leaders and workers are slowly destroying the credibility and achievements gained by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he remarked, adding, “Our roots-level workers lament on social media that party leaders do politics to earn while workers spend those to save the party.”
The minister recollected his memories with Kaiser when they had been members of the student council at Chittagong City College and Chittagong Commerce College.
Acting president of Awami League Chittagong chapter Mahtab Uddin presided over the discussion, while deputy publicity secretary of Awami League’s central committee Aminul Islam was also present as special guest.
